You know how much I love tonal shifts and Zingers!
This caption is quite Dee-like, but also, a little bit different. It's very much exposition, and I can hear Sgt. Joe Friday narrating the story as if it was the conclusion to an episode of Dragnet. (Hmmmm, Dragnet .. now that is a title that needs TG captions written about it!) It's somewhat dry, but a solidly crafted idea flushed out ..
.. and then we get to the final sentence / paragraph which lowers the boom, where it goes from Dragnet to Police Squad / Naked Gun. It's a lot of fun as is, but if you know that the recipient of the caption is named Jay Seaver, then to me it raises the frivolity slightly higher and turns it into a dad joke. Plus, I love the idea of a Stepford Prison .. seems like the evolution of the idea of a 1970's Stepford Wife into what we have today with the whole culture wars coming into play.
For me, this is the kind of caption that ShySteffie would have enjoyed reading on the Haven back 12 years ago. God I miss her and Petra! I do hope that they stop in occasionally and get a chuckle out of what I'm creating now, and hope it's up to the quality of what I've made in the past. Fingers crossed!
Honestly, I really love the Dragnet movie made in the 80's, and who wouldn't want to see Dan Ackroyd and Tom Friggin' Hanks dance and rap in a music video? Paula Abdul was the choreographer!
