Did you even know I was gone? Yeah, kind of figured.
Where have I been? Around mostly. Getting over a cold/flu/whatever. Figured I would kick back a bit since there hadn't been any comments or discussions coming my way. See if anyone noticed I wasn't posting or producing any captions at the Haven. Nope. It was nice to have a week to myself honestly, and I popped in here maybe once a day quickly to look for page hits, any new comments, and posts for captioners I follow. I have more responsibilities at the Haven so I popped in 3 times a day to do anything that needed administrative assistance. Other than that, free as the wind.
I enjoyed that. More than I thought I would, which was refreshing yet scary at the same time. More time to cook some healthy food. More time to help my daughter go through an awful time as best she can with my wisdom and guidance as she tried to get good at "Adulting". When healthy, more time to work out or clean up physical and mental messes that have accumulated over the last few months.
Right now I am not getting out of this what I am putting into it. The community seems to be drying up around me, or perhaps the appeal for me or the whims of the people themself is lacking. Really haven't had the desire to caption since the last one I posted (the Pro Bowl one) and that ended up being a bit more of a chore than I thought it would be. The previous caption I enjoyed making, and thought I would get some sort of reaction, and it just pretty much died on the vine.
Maybe it's depression from the politics of the last few months draining me, along with Rachel's terminal diagnosis, the backslide of this blog, and other things. Could be that I've run my course here, and at some point, the Haven. Check back in from time to time, I mean, hell, perhaps in 3 days I'll feel differently. I've also got one last goal I'd like to reach here, though it seems like it gets further away each week. Right now though, it seems like "Other ways to spend my time," is a much better option than "I think I'll make a caption and write up a blog post to go with it!"
Here's the results of the DIY Challenge for January 2017. I would like to thank all the regulars that chip in and rise to the challenge since we started it a number of years ago.
First up is Dawn (Commentator) who has participated in probably 85 percent of the challenges.
Brittany is another one that participates in almost every DIY we've had since the start of them!
And Helena gets her submission up under the wire again. Always a good thing when she's around!
Another great musician lost. My favorite song by Asia. Fucked up video but GREAT song!
