You girls are so friggin' creative!

Can't believe I ended up with 4 people that took up this DIY Challenge! I am amazed since it wasn't the easiest photo to deal with, but my readers came through again big time! The plotlines were quite different from each other as well which made it a great contrast in how people come up with ideas for TG captions.  Here are the submissions in no particular order:

This one was done by Helena, and I think she got here caption in early this time!

Then there is Brittany, who needed to stretch it out a bit to get all her text in!

Dawn (Commentator) also embiggened her submission. Glad this picture tickled her fancy!

And here's Ian who submitted through the LATEST DIY section of the blog.

Kudos to everyone that entered, and I'm so glad that I decided to challenge you all as you really stepped it up big time. I haven't composed anything yet for the next one, though I have a few in mind. We'll see how I feel when I'm ready to post another DIY Challenge in March!

By now you've probably read about the changes to Blogger's TOS and how they are going to crack down on explicit blogs. I am not quite sure how I'm going to deal with that, but I'll get back to you. Don't worry too much for now as we've got a month before any major issues will happen. If you have any ideas, leave them in the comments. I'm trying to keep all options open at this point.

Daughter was in Serious Car Accident Last Night

I was planning on posting last night but a drunk (most likely) was driving down the wrong side of a divided road and hit my daughter and her boyfriend head on in their car. The asshole drove off and the police are searching for the bastard. She was taken to the hospital with neck and back trauma. She is now stable and hopefully will come home this afternoon. Nothing broken thank goddess! I've not heard if they caught the slime bucket yet. As if that wasn't enough, we got MORE FUCKING SNOW overnight with more coming soon! GAH!

I'll post sometime in the next day or two. Prayers and thoughtful concern certainly can't hurt, especially if you direct it towards catching the fucktwat that hit them. I got a few hours sleep(ish) and I'm at work so I won't go insane at home.

Quick Update

Thank you to everyone that offered their best wishes, etc .. it means a lot to me!

Daughter is home (Actually at BF's house as his mom is a nurse) Her BF actually went out around 2 AM with a few friends to hunt down a license plate, debris or something for evidence, and they swept the area where the accident occurred and FOUND the vehicle stashed in a restaurant parking lot less than a block away from the crash site! Damn lot of good the cops were THERE huh? Anyway, they traced the car to its owner, a young woman who has been cited for quite a few things with this accident, including leaving the scene of an accident, etc ...

Most likely I'll be pulling this blog post and the previous one within the next week as its more personal than anything relating to its stated topic, but once again, I'd like to thank you for your outpouring of prayers and concerns. Its nice to have support when you are pouring out everything you can to your loved ones. I slept like 14 hours last night and it felt wonderful!

I'll have an update on the whole Blogger thing probably by the weekend, but I do plan on keeping this up as long as possible, even after the deadline, and I will look at other long term options when I actually get a chance to breathe! So keep dropping in and viewing what will hopefully be some new captions soon!

Leave It to Cleaver .. CHOP CHOP!

Here's to hoping for some normalcy in the upcoming months!

I am back with a "new" caption for Brittany7, insomuch that I wrote the story tonight, while I had the photo in a caption setting back a few weeks ago. Its quite a striking pose, and the picture of the cleaver with a P-E in the background gave me an idea for a revenge tale, but I didn't want it to be too dark, so I think the way it ended was a bit more ambiguous. I mean, did he REALLY override her programming, or is she going along with it for now and is foreshadowing his fate with their culinary dinner menu? Either way, I think it defangs the "I spit on your grave" edge it would've had otherwise.

<><><>

I have noticed that we've all been giving a "reprieve" as it were from the March 23 deadline as far as adult content is concerned. To be honest, I had a feeling that something like this would come of it, and my original thought was to put a "censored" marker in place of every caption that contained nudity, which isn't a huge part of my repertoire. I'm still concerned that they will censor our blogs, since much of our source material *IS* from adult sites, and I've yet to see that they would regard our work as original since we are re-purposing it into a new form like a remix.

Main thing though is that I wasn't going anywhere, and I certainly wasn't seriously thinking of Tumblr, as (1) their site is VERY disjointed and probably wouldn't allow me to be as verbose as I am here, and (2) they are VERY lax in sharing materials between creator and viewers. Since I don't put watermarks or anything else to "mark my work" I think it'd be hard ot keep track of what is my creative endeavor once it is in the wilds of Tumblr.

If'/when Blogger gets the itch again to scratch their puritan leanings, I'll probably convert this into a Wordpress blog and host it elsewhere. One thought was to host it on the Haven servers as a test case for perhaps archiving other's blogs .. maybe as supplemental income to keep the Haven running. Its current around 2k per year to keep going so all donations help! I hadn't talked to Rachel about it though so that is now deep on the backburner once the capitulation from Blogger happened.

<><><>

So, I think the big question is, "Are you back now Dee?" and I can give you the honest answer, of, "Maybe sorta kinda?" I am in a better mood, but as you have read, it's been a tough week, and I always try to have a number of captions in the pipeline to keep people coming back every 1-2 days.

As of this posting, I think I have 2 captions I can post that haven't been seen here before, unless I once again go WAY back into the Dark-hives which I am loathe to do since it has gotten to the point that it is VERY jarring to contrast my current work with the early work I have kept to the Haven. I am not embarrassed by the quality, but it looks nothing like my work for the last 4-5 years.

I have Saturday off, and if I have time, I am going to try to put a few hours in making captions but I'm not going to force it. If it flows, then all is well. If not, I'll play around later. I think a post every 2-3 days could be feasible for the time being though, and there is a possible DIY Challenge already to be put up in March as well. Thank you for being with me every step of the way to where I can get my mojo workin' again. Good times are coming, I strongly feel that and you are welcome to ride along!

Keep on rocking in the free world .. in your rocking chair!

Made this one on Thursday or Friday. My goal was to create a caption or two, without any pressure to make it for a certain person, or even have it be any good. I figured that if I just went through the process, then some sort of muscle memory would click and I'd have something.

Went looking through a few websites, not for anything in particular, but a photo that would invoke some sort of feeling in me, or something I could focus on. When this picture came floating by, I fixated on the rocking chair and the setting itself. Both Grandmothers have had heart attacks in the last 8 weeks or so (yeah, I told you it's been a tough Winter!) so I'd been visiting the one that still lives up here in a nursing home where she's been recovering before they'll send her back to her own house. That rocking chair reminded me of the main room and how people there would group around it to watch the snow (seems like its ALWAYS snowing!) and the traffic passing by. It made me think that those people would LOVE to be slogging around like I am still capable of doing. I vowed to bitch less (which I'm doing a decent job of!) and try to find good things in everything that happens (snow looks pretty when everyone I know is safe and sound) no matter how bad things can get.

Anyway, this is the Haven Nursing Home so wondrous things are afoot! Who wouldn't want a second chance at life, in any of it's glorious forms? This caption helped me make a few more over the last couple days, and most of them have a sense of second opportunities or chances for redemption, and of dancing to the beat of our own drummers.

A Fault in Our Metaphorical Stars!

Didn't see the movie, and didn't read the book. I can still write a caption about it though!

Made this one when I saw the source photo, as I wasn't really thinking about "A Fault in Our Stars" at all. I've seen the "Honest Trailer" and "Everything Wrong with A Fault .." on Youtube though and I figured I had a good idea what happens in it, enough where I could reasonably do a slight parody/call back about it .. I mean, I *AM* the queen of pop culture, right? BTW, in case you were wondering, she is holding up a ticket to the movie.

One thing I hope didn't come across the caption was of me making light of a serious disease like testicular cancer, which can be a heavy topic to discuss. If anything, humor can be a disarming way of lessening the morose nature of it, sort of gallows humor in a hopeless situation. The movie tries it's best to balance the two. It was not my intention to offend in any case.

As to the "metaphor" referred in the caption, the author says that it isn't a metaphor, but since the person saying it is only 18, and pretentious, he's using big words that he probably doesn't totally understand. I used the quote from the movie (it is in italics) in which some of the characters walk around with unlit cigarettes, in case you were wondering what the context was for the quote.

It can be a really sad book and story, so don't watch unless you are ready for a good weep. I mean, watching kids rehearse their own funerals and what their eulogies would be .. YIKES! Then again, for many teens, the frailty of life is often explored in books like this one, "Go Ask Alice", the Harry Potter series, and in lots of songs, from the death songs of the 60's (I have a huge affinity for those!) through these post-modern times.

As someone that has lost quite a few people to cancer, including my mother 20+ years ago, I kind of hope that my loved ones were able to start a new life free of the pain they were suffering. Hell, my daughter was born 8 months or so after my mom died, so maybe there is a bit of her in the brat!

Do You Feel What I Feel? Hypnotic Curves Ahead!

Who doesn't love aural sex?

Just made this one for Lacysliplover on the Haven. I think I owed her a trading caption, but even if I didn't, I would make her some because she is nice enough to comment on a good number of captions I've made for others. The last caption I made for her wasn't a favorite because of the ending I had written, and she did say she liked it, but just not the last line .. I had her wearing a chastity device .. which you can see HERE that I posted about two months ago. Please go back and read it if you missed it, as it does have some good comments by the readers as to it's interpretation.

Anyway, I wanted to make sure that I fit more of her preferences, so I reviewed them pretty closely then took a gander at the folder where she puts pictures she'd like to see captioned for her. The one that leaped out at me the most was this one, and I do wish it was a tad bit larger so I could've written a bit more. I even did an image match search to see if there was a higher quality one available, but alas there was not. It's a shame, but I guess it does have a bit of an ethereal haze about it that could impart a dream like quality to the overall theme.

The hardest part was trying to figure out what to do with the breasts, believe it or not. Lacy prefers cross-dressing captions, and when you use women, you end up dealing with curves. There can be lots done with accessories and some subterfuge, but you can't just sweep the boobs underneath the rug in this case, at least as far as I'm concerned. I figured the best way was to embrace it, and make it a big part of the story. I know that most of us have seen ads somewhere about breast growth creams and also some "use hypnosis or neuro linguistic programming (NLP) to increase the size of breath tissue. I took it to the extreme in that I made it WORK REALLY WELL, against all odds and all scientific studies. But it's a friggin' TG Caption, not real life!

Other than that, its a very straight forward caption that was plotted fairly easily and just flowed from my fingers to the keyboard. I hope that the ending snuck up on you, but it probably didn't. As I was posting it to Lacy's trading folder, I realized that I had probably subliminally stole some of the idea from an episode of Family Guy. Oh well, it's just a friggin' TG Caption!

I hope that Lacy enjoys this one more. Sometimes it's the tried and true formula that works the best, which is a big reason WHY tried and true formulas work!

Sensible Undies!

Perhaps this wasn't the best way to go about it, but it does prove a point!

Made this one for Nadine, as part of my continued New Year's resolution to caption people I hadn't done in quite some time. I found this picture, which has boots that I think Nadine will adore, and figured, "why not try to caption it?' since it is an interesting photo.

I made a decent caption, but I don't think I'm really quite back in the swing of things yet. I think a few warm days (in the 30's or 40's Fahrenheit) and no snow for a week or two (we got 8 inches of snow last night!) and some time to actually relax are what will get me back on my feet again. Besides, making "meh" captions are much better than not making anything at all!

I think I'll be back Sunday or Monday with another new caption.

One of my new favorite Mash-ups .. Nine Inch Nails and Taylor Swift, together at last!

Is the Curse of Remembering ...

Much worse than the curse to forget? PLUS a discussion on "The Scent of a Woman"!!

Made this one for Ian, who had hit some arbitrary number in the comments back in the last month or so, and I figured that now would be as good as any a time to whip something up. I am still trying to get back to a consistent quality level and sustaining it. There is a gear I will hopefully shift into soon, and until then, I will just keep grinding them out until I hit that groove.

As a topic of discussion:

About a week back, Kaaren made a post about how she loves the scent of her wife. I replied in the comments the following:
Always wondered about that whether the sense of smell is a big thing in determining if you are a sissy or not.
I don't particularly have a fondness for the smell of sex or arousal. I don't necessarily mind it, but it certainly isn't a deal-breaker or turn-on either way. It seems to be a big thing for most of the sissies that are friends with me online. Anyone else care to weigh in on this?
Kaaren's reply was
Many of us grew up wearing "borrowed" panties! And the easiest place to borrow from was the laundry hamper. The scent of womanhood became part of our lives very early! I believe it was part of what males me what I am.
Scent is a very powerful trigger and my wife's scent is something that triggers so much in me! Love, sex, submission...and so on!
That's how I experience it....others may differ....I'd be curious to hear too!
We got Leeanne to post about it as well, hoping for answers. Here is what she had to say:

So I'll admit it.  I am drawn to the scent of a woman.  Very drawn.  Very, very drawn.  And I must say that I think sweet Kaaren has a point.  After I've pleasured my cheerleader I am never in a hurry to "wash up," for the simple reason that I don't want to lose her scent.  Like Dee, I'd love to hear the thoughts of others on this most intimate subject.  What say you girls?
Her post received a single reply. So now its back here to see if anyone else would like to comment, on either side of the coin. Feel free to let us know how you feel about, "The Scent of a Woman".

Being Comfortable in Your Own Shoes ...

.. Even when you've lost a few sizes to them!

Wasn't planning on posting tonight, but I saw a caption that KarenSue made me almost 2 weeks ago that I missed in my folder.I felt bad for not seeing it, even though it was around when life got hectic so I went looking for some pictures, figuring I could possibly be motivated to make something, even if it wasn't for her. The positive thing about this was that while looking through an online folder I viewed a few days ago and found nothing interesting then .. this time something clicked with this photograph .. a former man kicking off his shoes after a day at the office and checking her cell phone for messages. Was she tired from the actual day at work, or tired of being in the female body?

With that in mind, I opened up Photoshop and set it up in a caption setting. there seemed to be a good amount of space to work within the picture, so that was a bonus. I knew the message she was hoping to find was that she had learned her lesson in being a woman and would be allowed to change back. As I started writing though, it looked to me like she was doing perfectly fine in her new body, and was still self-assured in her career, so I turned it into a face chat between her and her ex instead.

I liked the way it turned out, as I think they both learned a lesson, though his lesson might be that he shouldn't say anything bad about someone who can change him back into his old body. Maybe he even learned that he will be fine no matter what sex he is, which can be very comforting.

A lesson that I learned? ABS systems are horrid! I thought that I was having brake issues with all the snow and ice, but apparently its the car trying to drive itself for me when all it's doing is messing me up! I could use some new tires but if this car is going to "act up" on me like this, I'm not sure I want to keep driving it. There is a possibility that it could be something related to the axle, but I'd have to get it replaced to see if that actually was the problem. ARRGGHH! Starting to think I was better off sticking with cars made in the 90's and I hate to think I'm becoming a Luddite!

Spring Forward or You'll Fall Back! Don't be Tar-dy!

She's late! She's late for an important date!

Made this one for Tar, and I hope he'll like it, as I touched a few of his preferences, though I'm not sure if I hit enough of them. I liked the picture and the story pretty much came to me when I was viewing it, where I saw a guy getting dressed in a female body suit in the locker room. No one else is there, so I figured that he was late .. and what had the most potential for making people late? Something that happened this last Saturday night / early Sunday morning for many countries of the world! If it doesn't change automatically, then you have to reset microwaves, alarm clocks, car stereos, etc...Poor Tristan is just unlucky I guess that he's isn't good with technology!

I think it hit 50 degrees Fahrenheit today which is 10 degrees Celsius according to Google. Good times! I even wore my spring hoodie to work instead of my winter hoodie! A few more days like this (not happening yet!) and much of the snow might be gone. I never thought I'd say this, but even with all my allergies, I miss seeing green grass!

Showing Off Your Rumba Panties!

Non-compliance is so much more fun to deal with in a boyfriend, right?

Made this one for Winterburn, right around the same time I made the caption for Nadine. I must have been thinking about underpants that day, eh? The photo definitely gave the vibe of the model showing off her panties, plus the hairstyle implied a recent change, so I figured that would make a great compulsion caption. Its always more fun to write when the person changing is fighting those compulsions, so the "more you try to be male, the more you'll act like a female" route was the best way (I think at least!) to flesh out the storyline. It actually fits in nicely with March Madness coming up, though I kept the sport unknown so it'd be more universal and able to be read year round.

We are REALLY close to hitting 3600 comments here on this blog, and another milestone is close at hand as well. Nice to know that we should still be up and running after Google capitulated for at least the time being. I will start backing up everything once a week or so now in case we do get pulled down, as they are still pretty vague as to what exactly "commercial porn" is. Technically, many of the TG Caption sites, like me, quite often use that sort of material to generate their own works. Not sure we are quite out of the woods yet, but I'm still hopeful they will host the lot of us for years to come.

I was more of a rick DJ when I was younger, but this song was always popular on the dance floor. I used to follow it up with this now forgotten classic.

And of course, that would lead to my favorite real lost classics by The Fresh Prince!

Then, the song that would make you want to wear your clothes backwards!

Then wrap it up with Naughty By Nature.

Enjoy your Dee Dance Party Friday Night!

Katie Mills' Thrills and Chills!! .. and the next DIY Challenge!

A really late B-day gift for Katie!

Katie's birthday happened while I wasn't making captions, so once I started up again, this was the first one I made. Actually it was the only one I had made for about 2-3 weeks. It wasn't a fully fleshed out story line so I saved it for the next DIY Challenge, which didn't happen until now. Hope she likes it, and hopefully I can be ON TIME next year when it comes around again!

I have captions to post over the next week, which is a good thing since I might be short of time this week doing freelance computer repair for a few people and I am now doing income tax preparation on the side as well. Nice to be able to put a little bit of money aside, hopefully to get some rear tires for my vehicle, and redoing the AC system and a new CD player for the GF. Our anniversary is coming up in May as well, so it seems like I've already got the money spent!

I have started viewing friend's caption blogs again over the weekend, and even made a few comments. I haven't forgotten about all of you and at the very least I am going to skim my blog list on the left side every day or two, then try to catch up during the weekends. So glad that everyone seems to be keeping their blogger blogs, as they are so much easier to follow .. and after a bit, it seems like web traffic/visits are back to where they were before the kerfuffle. We all may have been chuffed, but we can only go so long without our TG fix!

<><><>

Here is the next setting for the DIY Challenge.Hopefully it will provide lots of options and ideas for those who'd like to take a shot at it.

The deadline is Sunday, March 29 at midnight, PST. You can write out the story and post it to the "LATEST DIY" section of the blog, which you can find under the banner up above. You can also submit it to my trading folder in Rachel's Haven (it won't be considered a trade caption) with the title DIY (name of your caption). You can also email it to me. Ask for details if you wish to do it that way and haven't submitted something by email before. Let's get cracking!

Spring Vacation Week .. Dee Style!

There's a reason why the kids see their Grandparents on their week off from school!

I at least THINK spring vacation is happening soon. My daughter has the week off from college after doing well on her midterms. Friends were talking about sending their children to the grandparents for the week and how they miss them but they really need a break after all time stuck in a house with them and a few feet of snow outside. Made me think about how my blog followers and Haven people would deal with spring vacation.

Why couldn't (or shouldn't) it be like this? I used to eat spaghetti at my grandparents house every Wednesday night. I would take the bus that went to their house, play with some of the neighborhood kids, then eat dinner with my Memere and Pepere for "Prince Spaghetti Day" and hang around with them until my parents picked me up around 8 PM. I am pretty sure they were using that time away from me by knocking boots, or at the least, having a nice quiet dinner .. but probably knocking boots 'til there heels fell off!

The ending is a bit of a Dee twist, and it was fun to write. I mean, why shouldn't we be kinky well into our old age? I'm hoping when I get there, I'll still be randy as I am now, and since I won't care what people think by then, I'll be even more nasty LOL I wonder if when I get to a nursing home, I'll be allowed to have Internet access to lots of porn like I do now. I know they sort of frown upon it at this point, but isn't that a constitutional right .. the right to pursue happiness? I know it'll keep me from trying to fondle the poor nurses like those old coots do now!

Made a pop culture caption tonight which I will post in a few days. Let me know what you think about this caption. I have a special caption coming up either tomorrow or Thursday; See you then!

God, the Devil, and Dee! .. and 5 million views!

I couldn't have done this all without that special person .. Me! Well, Satan too .. and YOU!

Made this the other day when I realized I was close to the next milestone here on the blog, hitting 5 million page views. I had set the artificial deadline of March 23, back when Google decided they wanted to shut down many of the TG blogs .. I wished to hit 5 million before we possibly vanished. They have since recanted, but I still had that day in mind, and we did it a few days early!

I wanted to do something special, and really didn't have anything at the tip of my tongue, when I happened to see this picture on the Internet. I am not sure that God has appeared in many TG captions that I know of, so "me" looking up at the sky seemed like a good way to have a dialog with a deity, and make it hopefully fun and meta for me and for you, the readers and commenters.

I am pretty sure that I have stayed clear of insulting anyone's belief system, just more of the standardized Hollywood version of the Heaven and Hell hierarchy. Besides, I've legitimately been called Satan's Spawn many times in my real life, so it's was possibly an omen that I am Damien.

I hope you've enjoyed the caption, and that you've shared in the bounty with joyous celebration of TG fiction here since page view one all the way to the present. Every comment is appreciated, ruminated upon, and often reflected about when I dig through the archive. Many of the commenters no longer are in our current circle of discussions, but they helped lay the foundation for what we talk about today .. and I hope they will come back someday with a fresh outlook at what we do and why we do it. For those along for the ride now, and those with their thumbs stuck out and their stocking tops exposed, thanks for riding shotgun. Its been a hell of a ride so far!

How Would You .. The Squadron Leader! 15 Minute Challenge!

$

15 minutes to make a complete caption? I'll take that challenge!

I wasn't planning on posting tonight, as honestly I hadn't planned on making a caption either. However, when I was floating through the Haven, making sure all the ferrets keeping the server were all fed for the day, I came across this post from Jezebel, entitled, "How Would You" and inside, it said, "I am supplying the photo, you supply the words in cap form of course. Please post it here. What does the photo whisper to you?" and this picture was attached ..

And then she posted what she had created. I love the idea of challenges, as we've been pretty much doing the same thing here for 18 or 19 months now. I was excited, and since it was for the Shop Talk section, which I used to moderate before becoming an admin, I wanted to up the ante for myself and hopefully show people the process, while putting additional pressure on myself to succeed. I posted the following and immediately got to work by firing up Photoshop.
Haven't read yours yet. I am going to take this as a challenge and do everything in 15 minutes with a blank slate, then wrap up whatever I was doing. Hope it comes out well!
Dee
For the process, I'll cut and paste what wrote up for the response, which came 17 minutes later, the time in which I created the caption AND posted it with the write up to the Haven:
Just finished up. Started with just the picture and no idea on what to do, so I figured I'd make something up once I placed it in a caption setting.
Saw the make up and the gradient I used from the eye shadow and thought of camouflage, so I made the character a military person .. one that had seen too much and him and his squadron had gotten into trouble somehow and were being changed into women. From there, it just let whatever came out end up on the page, then trimmed it down, shrunk the text to fit, spell checked it and saved it so I can post it here now.
Hope everyone enjoys a truly unfiltered look at how I create, especially under pressure!
This was great fun!
That pretty much is how it went down. I honestly have no idea what I would've done if I hadn't used the eye shadow scheme as a background which made me think of army camo. I imagine it would have gone in a totally different direction. It is now about 2 hours after I posted it to the Haven, and I'm going to go back now and detail what I think I would change if I wasn't under such a time constraint and if I liked what I made.

CORRECTIONS: I see that I used the word "overwhelming" twice in the 3rd paragraph, and I usually catch things like that, where I'll change one of the occurrences of it to something close but pulled out of my mental thesaurus. I do NOT like repeating descriptive words in my caption unless it is for a reason, which usually would be part of a hypnotic trance where I'm trying to impart an anchor. Looking again, I also used "in the way" and "all the way" on two consecutive lines in the 2nd paragraph, which I might've picked up if I took my time, but might have slipped through.

Lastly, you can tell that I rushed the last paragraph a bit, because I was coming up against the clock and new I had to shrink the text to fit the space AND spell check and triple stack it as well. In that, I would replace the "out" in "out to the Outlet Mall" with "down to the Outlet Mall" and prohably would've added another line of text to make it more understandable that women are/were the best friends AND worst enemies to each other .. at the same time. Perhaps even just adding "BOTH" into the final phrase, "they were BOTH hunters and the prey."

DETAILS: I probably would've added some black and possibly a touch of beige to give the gradient background some more "Camouflage" looking effect. What I made is good enough, but I think it would have given it a bit more polish. I honestly don't know where I came up with most of the "storyline" as it were, I just let my fingers type whatever came into my head and went right into the caption setting. I guess my brainstorming really threw out a hurricane of commercial dystopia and disposable culture angst. Perhaps some of my politics came out here, but once I started writing, I let it play itself out to an utter extreme.

<><><>

In the end, this little exercise is exactly the reason why I started this blog in the first place, to talk about the behind the scenes writing details and "show the work" when most people only see the final results of a caption. Its a nice little companion piece to my last post celebrating what we've accomplished here. Expect more of the same but hopefully I can keep things fresh for both you and me as we progress onward.

I have responded to everyone that wished me well so head there to see what I've written if you commented. If you haven't, I pledge to answer you if you leave a message there. Also, since this caption wasn't for anyone, I would appreciate feedback on what you see in the caption and what I've written about the process behind it down below. Anytime I get to pull the curtain back and let you see how the sausage is made, is a welcome pleasure for me. Also, feel free to make your own caption with the picture and post it with Jezebel's post in the Shop Talk section of Rachel's Haven!

Hopefully it will be the ONLY burning sensation you'll receive at the party!

Made this one for Simone the other day as she celebrated her birthday. I searched for a picture with a large birthday cake in it as an idea for the caption, and when I saw this photo, I rewrote what I had in mind, as this felt much better and in keeping with our characters.

It's nice to have a choice as to what caption I post tonight as I have a few in reserves finally. Thought that this might be a good caption for a Saturday night. I am nursing a sinus headache but we are going out visit some friends soon and I wanted to get this out before we leave, Hope everyone is thawing out finally. I can't complain because even though we got 2 inches of snow last night, it was melted by 2 PM while Nova Scotia is getting its third blizzard in 3 weeks! YUCK!

I'm sure business will pick up VERY soon!

Made this one for Zoligymist, who has a blog listed in the left hand side. As I said in the posting to Rachel's Haven:
Not sure if you've seen a reality show that deals with this topic, but we have numerous ones on cable TV like "Restaurant Impossible", "Bar Rescue" and "Mystery Diners" where people come in and redo a whole business that is failing, retrain staff or fire them, and redesign the decor and fix the food and liquor menu.
I guess they might have shows like this in other countries, I believe that Gordon Ramsey screams at people in a number of TV shows in Europe. When I saw the source photo, I thought about a "Reveal" part of the show, and how they had changed the loud, obnoxious owner/manager into something else entirely. Seems like a plausible idea for those of us making TG Captions I'm sure!

I won't ask you to write a long thing on what happened next, but I would like to see what you think Tawny's new place should be called! Other comments would be welcome too but I left the new establishment nameless so everyone could have a crack at giving it a new name!

You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, when I met you.
I picked you out, I shook you up
And turned you around,
turned you into someone new.

Snakes? Why did it have to be snakes?

This caption was driven totally by the picture I found on line. The photo made me say "No time for love, Doctor Jones," and immediately I heard Sean Connery saying, "I named the DOG Indiana!"

Of course, Indiana is no name for a female, but Dakota is also a state and very much a girl's name, one that could be an adventurer of renown. In fleshing the story out somewhat, I just took a smattering of quotes from the movies, used some of the plot, then went slightly meta with the video game reference at the end. All in the name of some good old fashioned pop culture fun!

Yes, it is Short Round speaking in the beginning, and I think he's become her porter / driver(!) / assistant. I had a bit where her dad had read her diary which gave away the plan to turn into a female, but I cut it out as making it too long of a caption when I didn't want to wear out my welcome with too intricate of a plot for what is mostly a homage to a great trilogy of films from my childhood.

And yes, looking like that would be the HOLY GRAIL for many of my readers!

Guess where *I* am going tonight?

Won't be around tonight as I go to the movies with a few friends to see the 30th anniversary showing of The Breakfast Club. I watched the shit out of this movie when I was younger, though too young to see it in the theater. I used to catch it all the time in reruns on cable TV. I threw this quickie together because in many ways, I WAS all the characters in Breakfast Club all rolled into one .. I played 2 sports but wasn't good enough to be a star, I was in advanced classes but wasn't quite a nerd, I dressed in jeans and rock t shirts and people thought I worshiped the devil, but never was a stoner, and of course you see the princess in me here on my blog!

Which character were YOU in High School?
