So it's not a Valentine's Day caption in theory .. but there's a husband, a wife .. and yours truly!
Wasn't going to post today on Valentine's but the GF is working second shift tonight, so why not whip something up until she gets home, plus there was something I wanted to cover with regards to the whole Captioning 101 project over a week or so. Tune in below for that segment of the blog.
I honestly spent all my creativity o the caption, and had none left in naming this damn thing! Oh well! I had a picture in mind for Vypress, and was SO pleased to see her preferences had been adapted recently. It made this caption all the more juicy for me to write, as I don't know that many people would mind the whole cuckolding and "not the father" aspect of the caption. Whoops, spoiler alert! Most of the time, it pays to read the caption first .. That's a hint from me to you!
So glad that Vypress is back, as I get another hosiery fan to play with! And why not start out with a pantyhose classic babe, Jamie from Southern Charms! Since Vypress hasn't replied yet, I am hoping this scratched her itch for something new.
In the comment section of the last post, Karen had said, " Just one thing I noticed, however, not a criticism but an observation which may or may not be important. "You didn't mention the name Lacy in the caption itself, so when Ron becomes a girl for a mysterious reason, he doesn't identify his new self as Lacy! I wonder if that might be crucial, since the new "Lacy" identifies with ladybugs."
And I mentioned that I would discuss in the next post, aka the one you are reading right now. It's a phenomenon that I call the "Radio Commercial Effect" because it's something that is noticeable in many adverts on local radio stations. Here's a brief description of it I gave way back in May of 2011.
I mean, it isn't as bad as a radio commercial ("Your basement is so clean Marge, how'd you do it?""Acme Basement Management.""Acme Basement Management?""Yes! Acme Basement Management. Those guys at Acme Basement Management really knew what they were doing.""Well, I guess its Acme Basement Management for me .. what's that number?" etc. ...)
When we make TG captions, especially for other people, there is a big effort to shoehorn in both a male and a female name .. so they'll know it is for them, and of course, people like to see themselves name checked. However, it's unlikely in an actual conversation, or in thoughts in your head, for names to be brought up in any sort of abundance, so we artificially inflate the number of times said person's name is dropped, or wiggle our way into saying it out loud somehow.
Next time you talk to a family member, or a good friend, count how many times you say their actual name, and how many times they mention yours. I bet it's maybe once per five minutes, and only if you aren't paying attention to them.
In the case of the last caption, I gave "narration" in regards to Ron's situation, then anything "said" was in Ron's mind. He knows who he is, both his male self and his female alter ego. There might be times when we differentiate ourselves when feeling feminine, and go, "Oh Dee, you look damn hot in that corset!" but still, we don't go in for self-referential thoughts that often.
So it was definitely a choice not to put Lacy's name in the caption. Thanks for the question Karen! Plus, I messaged you on the Haven last night I think. Hopefully you'll reply to it soon!
Helena brought up some other things to talk about in the comment section yesterday as well, so perhaps I'll tackle that next. I'm still looking for other topics and ideas to work through so fire away with whatever you want to see my ponder!
Newish song by Whitechapel. Like the New England weather, wait a minute and the music will change. Not for everyone though! Been digging though.
